this is the handy-dandy christian search engine, called crosssearch. i didn't notice until finding it again to feature on my site that it is a ministry of GospelFilms, which is a rather....iconic (to me, implications aside) film studio that unfortunately died in 2008. they had a few really big hits, including this one, starring of all people Robert DeNiro and featuring Liam Neeson. since it isn't a kids' film, i haven't watched it yet, and probably won't until mid-april. my favorite thing that GospelFilms has ever done, though, is the movie poster for The Mission. i'll upload that here when i get around to it :-P

not an evangelical site, but something that is just truly wonderful. there's a strange layer of sincerity to be found underneath all of its satirical and critical bits about mainstream American religion c. 2000. some of my biggest influences in life (and to this day biggest supporters) have been a handful of lesbian, feminist episcopalians, a few of whom might have even been in this kind of internet circle back in the day. it's an odd feeling, in the good way

the quintessential, Christianity Today website. undoubtedly the leaders in the evangelical press, they claim to be the first Christians on the World Wide Web (i remember partially investigating this claim but i don't think i actually concluded anything because something else came up). anyways, the design here is just *chef's kiss*. there's so much i can talk about when it comes to CT, but none of that is relevant to this particular snippet

this is one of the first sites i found, although i'm not sure i entirely remember how. i really do love it as a very straightforward example of pre-9/11* internet theology (i use 9/11 as a turning point just because it was, to me, when evangelical christianity became entirely infused with abject patriotism and vice versa). spreading the Good News via the interwebs was prioritized over spreading the news that the rapture was to come, and graphic design was truly everyone's passion
